Style Guide: Modern Wanderer Interiors

The modern wanderer trend incorporates organic tones and styles. But what sets it apart from the other nature-inspired trends? We decided to take a closer look at this trend…

The modern wanderer look is all about natural tones and textures. It embraces bespoke designs. There are elements of this look that come from all around the world.  But to make things a little simpler let’s break it down room by room.

Modern Wanderer Bedrooms

The best starting point for bringing this style to your bedroom is with natural textiles. We’re talking plush cotton and linen bed sheets. And fringes are your friend here.

Of course there’s more to the bedroom than just the bed. But retaining these organic tones are essential. The easiest way to keep this theme going in your bedroom is with wood furniture. A wooden chest of drawers for all your clothes, a wooden bedside table, even a wooden bed frame if you’re inclined to replace your bed. Look for wood with natural finishes. Neutral oak tones are perfect and will carry on to another look should you decide to redecorate.

Modern Wanderer Living Rooms

In the most casual and yet the most decorative space in your home they’re one main tip that can make your life much easier. Rugs. Of course, all rooms can benefit from rugs, but especially the living room.

A modern wanderer living room brings classic comforts to light. A plush rug underfoot, a nice cosy throw, some plush cushions, and a comfy sofa. What else could you want? Of course, just like in the bedroom, all these comforts should reflect natural materials and tones. (A bright pink rug may be fabulous, but may also clash with a modern wanderer interior.)

The living room is also a great opportunity to experiment with decoration. Plants, wall art, accent bowls, candles, and so much more will work like a charm here. For your wall art, again try to keep those organic hues. Beige doesn’t have to be boring and natural wall art can actually be quite expressive. Plus, wall art can also be a space to try out the international-inspired elements of this style.

Modern Wanderer Dining Spaces

Dining rooms aren’t always given the same amount of styling love as some other rooms in our homes. After all, a lot of the rules we follow in the living room will work here too. But there’s a lot more opportunity for visible organic material here. And just like in the bedroom, we love wood.

But other than natural wood finishes, there’s something that separates the dining space from all other spaces in your home. That is, of course, the dining itself. Your tableware can be the finishing touch here. Not that you’re restricted to plain whites. Speckled façades add an effortless touch of nature to any interior.

Modern wanderer interiors reflect the near eclectic nature of Bohemian-inspired interiors though with a more deliberate eye. Where Bohemian-inspired spaces may feel almost cluttered at times, modern wanderer spaces are less about letting your style come together naturally and more about creating a well-rounded, international-inspired, conscious aesthetic.
