How we restyled Guy Sebastian’s home

The Australian Idol superstar and X-Factor judge, Guy Sebastian, along with his wife, Jules, and son, Hudson, have decided to call Gerroa on the New South Wales South Coast, home, if only for the holidays. An escape from their more permanent residence in the busy, yet equally beautiful, Sydney suburb of Clovelly, their new abode provides the perfect getaway from the demands of busy careers.

The newly renovated 4-bedroom home overlooking picturesque Seven Mile Beach is the perfect getaway for sun, sand and surf lovers. A confessed lover of the water himself, Guys’ vision for the renovation was inspired by the stunning view from the rear of the house, as he explains “all the views were blocked, so we literally tore all the walls down”. The thing he loves most is that no matter where you are in the house you always have views to the ocean.

With the renovation complete and no time in his busy schedule to go furniture shopping, responsibility for the finishing touches were left in the capable hands of Zanui. In keeping with the feel of the house, a stylish, relaxed, contemporary interior was achieved. The aim was to create a child friendly space for the family to unwind in when they needed a break from the city, while also accommodating visiting family and friends.

A mixture of carefully selected textures and patterns were offset by pops of colour and metallic accents, paying homage to the couples’ individual styles. This resulted in an interior that is both cosy in areas and more luxurious and playful in others.

The overall aesthetic of the living room is both warm and inviting. The round timber cluster of the Tropica Woody Coffee Table cleverly complements the freestanding fireplace while the graphic black and white canvas adds a polished feel. The collection of bright, patterned cushions inject a burst of colour into an otherwise neutral space.

The bedroom is more glamorous with bold wallpaper, a stunning statement chandelier and a fabulous smoke coloured perspex chair. The structured lines of the mirrored furniture carefully balance the soft Natural Cowhide Rug underfoot, while the bright aqua hue of the Stella Table Lamp prove it’s not always serious business.
