Christmas giving – a cheat sheet for busy mums

xmas 4

Every year the arrival of the Christmas decorations around town comes as a shock. I’ve only just gotten round to packing the tinsel away before I have to dig it out again. The Christmas carols chase me round the grocery store and the twelve days of Christmas tick away before you can say honey mustard glazed ham.

Don’t get me wrong. Christmas is delicious. It’s infectious – all that festive cheer. How can you not love the baubles, the giant candy canes, all those cheery round men dressed in red and white fur. And of course, all the little people in your life licking their pencils to scribble lists for Santa.

Getting the gift-giving right is a present in itself – nothing beats the look of delight on a loved one’s face. Braving the Christmas hordes, however, is a different story. Inevitably I emerge, hours later, clutching some random packages in a state of mild hysteria.

If a battle to the death for the last roll of torn-up wrap gets your blood pumping, then don’t let me interrupt. But in the interests of staying this side of sanity, we’ve created a Zanui cheat sheet for gifting the whole family.

Whether he’s the steely arbiter of disputes or powerless against little-finger-wrapping, socks are not the answer this year.
